TOWN OF NIAGARA, N.Y. (WKBW) – Canadian Thanksgiving north of the border and Columbus Day here in New York combine to make for a big shopping day at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls.
“What I love about the United States is everything is just bigger and better and you have a lot more clearance outlets,” Ben Ohana from Toronto said. “The prices and the markdowns are really insane and there are huge savings.”
Many Canadians turned out at the Outlets to take advantage of big sales, something they don’t see as much of back home.
“We don’t get a lot of coupons and a lot of 50 percent off and doubling up of coupons,” Patti Mann from the Hamilton, Ontario area explained. “For example, we went to Vera Bradley and it was 50 percent [off] with an additional 30 percent [off]. That’s unheard of in our stores at home.”
This, despite a poll in July that showed most Canadians would support boycotting U.S. goods and traveling to the country in the midst of the U.S. and Canada introducing new tariffs.
